Day Trips With Dogs Brisbane

Day Trips With Dogs Brisbane – Are you looking for a dog sanctuary from Brisbane? There are many options available, whether you want to visit the beach, hike, taste Queensland-made wine or enjoy a flower festival.

All of these destinations are less than a three-hour drive from central Brisbane, some closer, meaning they are close enough to visit for the weekend. For each destination, I have shared dog-friendly attractions as well as dog-friendly beaches, off-road dog parks, and pet-friendly areas. So choose your next weekend with your puppy…

Gold Coast is a popular destination for the whole family and there is no need to leave your puppy on the go. Having some dog-friendly beaches with a mix of great dog accommodation from the theme park to the boutique hotels – Spit Dog Beach and Palm Beach is my favorite.

Once you have filled up on the beach, enjoy some amazing off-street dog parks on the Gold Coast (available at Botanic Gardens), order a liter of locally brewed beer or climb Mount Tamborine to explore. Golden Beach. Hunter Beach

Bribie Island is technically in Brisbane and Wream Beach is my favorite beach destination for dogs in South Brisbane. But it is also a great place to visit on the weekends and it is easy to reach an island due to the bridge to the mainland

A vacation home for animals on Bribie Island is best as there is no parking on or near the island where pets are allowed. However, the island is part of a convenient RSL for some dogs that I have encountered, with social cafes allowing dogs in the outdoor dining area.

Sunshine Beach has more to offer than sunshine and beaches, though Sunshine Beach has a dog-friendly beach option as well.

Take in the many beaches, hiking or mountaineering like Mt Ninderry, take Noosa back to Emundi Market and do not miss the beautiful land with Maleny Gympie Botanic Gardens, there is also a dog train ride!

Sunshine Beach offers a wide range of dog shelters, as well as pet shelters, vacation homes and apartments.

If you visit Toowoomba with your dog, be sure to go there in September, the city hosts its annual flower festival in September and you are welcome to join the dog fun

Don’t forget to visit Queen’s Park, the festival venue, which is also the venue for an outdoor dog park. Jure Rakuen is a beautiful Japanese garden, while Laurel Bank Park also has a spectacular flower show. Then head to the dining area, explore unique street art, or relax at one of the many dog-friendly cafes.

Now that Covid’s border closure has been lifted, it is possible to get to Byron Bay this weekend from Brisbane. This coastal city is famous for its beautiful beaches. Belongill Beach and Tallow Beach are off-road options in Byron or heading to Brunswick Heads for a quiet walk on the sand.

Today, Byron is popular for its hip lifestyle as it is exemplified by many of its trendy cafes. Your puppy will not miss the dog options with The Treehouse in Belangil, Byron Bay General Store and The Farm in Ewingsdale. Do not forget to visit the beautiful shops and cafes in New York and Bangalore

Stanthorpe is Queensland’s only winery located in the Granite Belt wine region. Conveniently, it is also close to Brisbane for a weekend getaway with your dog.

There are several basement doors around Stanthorpe that welcome dogs to join you with an interesting mix of grape varieties. Do not forget the local beer, cheese, apples and cakes, maybe relax at Donnelly’s Castle or Quarter Bowl Creek.

There are many pet-friendly options around Stanthorpe, from luxury cottages to campgrounds. An open fire is necessary in the winter months because the temperature always drops below zero!

Hello! I have traveled to 35 countries around the world with my Shandos Cleaver and my small dachshund Schnitzel. I have a lot of tips for traveling with dogs, from places for dogs to places for pets to flying with dogs. I hope I can motivate you to travel with your dog! With countless beautiful islands off the coast of Queensland, one wonders if living on an island might be Queensland’s last holiday? But since most islands do not allow dogs on them, check out some of Queensland dog-loving islands.

Great Keppel is one of the friendliest islands off the coast of Queensland, especially in the tropics. A day trip to Great Keppel with your dog from Yeppoon makes for a great day out with great beaches, swimming and snorkeling. There is so much to do on Great Keppel Island!

The easiest way to get to Great Keppel Island is by double-decker ferry company, offering a short 30-minute journey with multiple departures throughout the day. Pre-booking is recommended.

We travel with Keppel Connections, which accepts dogs on the plane for free, there is no need for our dogs to dress up. There is also a larger Freedom Fast Cat, which costs $ 5 for small dogs and $ 10 for large dogs.

The main attraction of Great Keppel (Wop-pa) is its beautiful beaches, which fortunately dogs love. In fact, there are no signs that indicate dogs are allowed on the beach. But the island is part of the same local government area as Yeppoon, so perhaps the default rule is that dogs are allowed off-road during the day, plus before 8 a.m. and after 4 p.m.

Fisherman’s Beach: The center of the island is where your ferry will drop you off and is close to the island’s shops, cafes and limited accommodation. Follow the beach to its southern end to start the nearby beach promenade.

Shelving Beach: The next easiest beach to visit is a 5-10 minute walk from the end of Fisherman’s Beach, although the end of the trail is a bit rough, especially if you wear a jacket. With reef sections on either side of the beach, it is popular for swimming and snorkeling.

Monkey Beach: Considered to have some of the best snorkeling spots on the island, skip Shelving Beach for a long walk to Monkey Beach. Unfortunately, we ran out of time to visit this beach.

Long Beach: This beautiful white sand is ideal for boating and swimming, with two walkways leading to the beach with easier options starting at the end of Fisherman’s Beach, while there are additional waterways that run along The coast of the island. The Far East is actually a naked beach, although we almost had a beach for ourselves during our visit.

There are many walkways on the island, although they are currently not well maintained or well marked. It is best to keep your dog on a leash during walks as we have seen goannas, echidnas and many other birds in the quiet forest. Once on the island, it is recommended to inform your accommodation about your hiking plans.

As part of our ferry booking with Keppel Connections, we added lunch with a drink at the Great Keppel Island hideout, which was amazing and delicious. Most hidden bistro shops are outside and for dogs with lots of water bowls. I saw the sign “No dogs pass this point” as I walked, but I was not sure which area it was referring to – we were not just for dogs.

Other food options on the island include Tropical Vibes Cafe in-store and Great Keppel Island Pizza. Both options tend to have the dog at their outdoor table or order pick-up and drop-off to the beach.

If you are just visiting for a day and want to spend a day exploring, it is a good idea to bring your own lunch so you do not have to go back to the beach in the middle of the day.

Although the main resort of Great Keppel Island has been closed for many years, with plans to redevelop in a few years (and then quiet down), there are still plenty of accommodation options and vacation homes.
