But finding a dog-friendly hotel in New England takes a lot of research. What is the hotel’s dog policy? Are there additional fees? Are there weight or gender restrictions? And you may worry about sacrificing your comfort for traveling with your dog. Is the only option to “mess around” with roadside motels and campgrounds? Or are there shelters that not only accept dogs, but also care for dogs and their owners?
I’m here to save you a lot of time and trouble when planning your next vacation with your dog. Located on the shores of Lake Champlain, Basin Harbor believes a family vacation isn’t complete without four-legged family members. Their pet policy allows dogs of any size to be well behaved at the cottage for a daily fee of $20 per pet. To book online, you can choose one of the apartments and then add the cost of the pet at check-out.

This resort has everything you need to spend a perfect vacation without leaving 700 hectares of land. Choose from tons of fun activities for the whole family, from land to lake. The guest pool and beach are not pet-free, but dogs have their own swimming area called Fanny’s Beach. We were even able to rent a sailboat to go out on Lake Roscoe! In addition, you can eat in one of the five restaurants. Dogs are not allowed in the dining areas, but can dine with Red Mill in the communal outdoor seating area. There are also dog walking and daycare services if you want to enjoy yourself without Fido.
From land to water, Basin Harbor has plenty to do for dogs.
Field Guide Lodge in Stowe is a beautiful boutique hotel managed by Lark Hotels. Like many of their properties, their pet policy allows dogs under 70 pounds per day for an additional fee of $50 per dog. We stayed in one of their three dog-friendly cottage suites, which have a beautiful patio and a private outdoor entrance. You can order these kennels online, just be sure to include a note when checking the number, size and name of the dog. Dogs should not be left alone in the living room. Out of respect for other guests, leashed dogs are only allowed on balconies and outside common areas of the hotel.
This hotel looks very nice and beautiful. Comfortably decorated with wood-burning stoves and cozy woolen sheets, the living room invites you to curl up with a book or a board game. You can have breakfast in the lobby cafe or enjoy drinks and snacks in the new ice bar, Après Only. You have to book the outdoor hot tub in advance, which is a little annoying. But the advantage is that you are guaranteed to have it yourself. And the place couldn’t be better. We were able to walk downtown, the mountain bus stopped in front of the hotel. It’s the perfect base for you and your baby in Vermont.
Memorable Cape Cod Pet Friendly Vacation Rentals & Properties
Mountain View Farm Inn is a unique place to stay in the heart of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Per their pet policy, dogs are allowed for an additional $50 per night in select rooms: Peacham, Danville, N. Danville, Maidstone and Lost Nation. You can select the “Pets Allowed” option to reserve your room online. The bar is pet friendly with a friendly golden retriever working the front desk and there is even a pet friendly area on site. Pay attention to whether your dog reacts to other animals or not!
We stayed in the Deluxe Peacham Room which was cozy yet comfortable. Roscoe especially enjoyed sleeping in front of the wood burning fireplace. In the morning we were greeted at the main hotel building with hot food and coffee from the oven. When we thought we couldn’t take a bite, the innkeeper brought out a few packets of his famous pancakes with fresh blueberries. we couldn’t resist.
With 400 hectares of forest land in the unspoiled Northeast Kingdom, this historic park is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. It was worth getting up early to see the sunrise, with reds and purples. A mist descends from the mountains, and the valley descends in the morning.
The Kimpton Taconic in Manchester has one of the strictest pet policies I’ve ever come across. Everyone is welcome, skin is fine, as long as it fits the lift! There are no restrictions on the size, weight, breed or number of pets allowed, and there are no additional deposits or fees. Filter by pet when ordering online and fill out the pet form at check-in.

Kimpton Taconic is truly the perfect place to pamper your dog. Rooms are equipped with food bowls, toys, treats and a plush Orvis dog bed. (The Orvis flagship store across the street is a must-see for your dog.) Dogs are allowed in the lobby and in the front dining area of the hotel, Copper Grouse. During the colder seasons, they have outdoor heaters to keep both you and your children warm. Additionally, you can request pet services, including but not limited to babysitting, dog walking and spa services, by contacting the front desk.
Made Inn Vermont in downtown Burlington is a home away from home for both you and your pet. This charming bed and breakfast in the city’s boutique pet policy accepts well-behaved furry friends for $25 per pet per day. You can book directly online, just add your dog to the number of guests and provide details in the notes.
We stayed in room 904, one of the larger rooms recommended for large dogs. Even Roscoe was comfortable and the bathroom is down the hall (at least it’s private though). The quirky nature of the bar may not be for everyone, but it’s in a great location within walking distance of the city centre. The owner is very friendly and will make recommendations for pet friendly restaurants and things to do in Burlington.
Located between Killington and Rutland in central Vermont, Mountain Top Resort isn’t just dog-friendly, it puts them first. Their pet policy states that canine friends are welcome in the resort’s four comfortable guest rooms and a selection of guest houses with Vermont-made biscuits, dog beds and bowls. maximum of two dogs per unit. Dogs must be registered at the time of booking.

But grab a drink at The Fritz Bar and settle in with your child.
