Cotopaxi is B.A.R.K. Ranger and if you decide to bring your best friend in the world along the way please think the same.

We went camping in Marquette Michigan and it was a great day trip outside of town. It’s a great combination of elevation, calm levels, and on a clear day, views of Lake Superior.

There are many junctions with mountain bike trails so make sure you know where you are and follow the Hogback Trail. The back end can be very heavy and heavy. I provided Cotopaxi with boosters and hoists to reach the top if needed.

If you’re not a rock fan, then consider the nearly 4,000-mile North American Highway and National Scenic Trail. It’s a walk to the fun and interesting Lakanenland art park. Or try the boardwalk on Lake Superior with its many underwater shops. You can’t go wrong with Marquette’s summer travel options. The whole town is SUPER dog friendly!

Dogs Luv Us And We Luv Them: Travel With Dogs

The Big Island in Lake Superior is off the coast of Munising. A 10-minute dog sails and lands on an island. You can land all over the island or weave in. We stayed in an old house that was found by the National Parks here. There are many day trips but if you have the opportunity to spend the night, you are among the few among the large and hidden islands. If your dog is not on board, this is a must. Our luggage was not damaged, and boarding was fast! We took our bikes and pans as the garage was two kilometers away. Everything is laid out so pack light but bring the essentials!

Located on the popular M-22 highway near the city of Frankfort is the Green Point Dunes. Beautiful views of Lake Michigan, dog trails, and hiking break the sweat in the summer.

This is what we like when we go to one of the best restaurants in Franklin (we live near Interlochen Michigan.)

There are various preserves managed and managed by the Grand Traverse and Leelanau Conservancy and almost everything we see is a dog.

Dog Gear For Hiking: Adventure Gear For Your Pet

This trail is in the national forest near where we live in Interlochen. It’s a car and it’s flat when we go in the summer. In the end, it was the way for us. Honestly if you are not near Interlochen I do not recommend going out this way. BUT if you are scary! There are no crowds, the 6.5 mile loop, and the flat terrain is perfect for walking.

Cotopaxi found its feet in its childhood at Lost Lake and I will never forget the high energy levels here!

A quieter alternative to the more popular dune trail at Sleeping Bear. Here you can find it and see the beauty of Lake Michigan as I experienced it during my summer vacation in Michigan. The trails also offer a variety of lengths and difficulty levels, ensuring that you catch a wonderful blue in your head when you see it. The Great Lakes can do a lot for you, if you open up to the beauty and power of nature!

Looking back on the road with these photos, I am very grateful for our time in Northern Michigan. We had (I hope) one of the most challenging family events we could have this summer. And Cotopaxi and the road that leads me and my partner through it all. Our needs are as important as the rise of Happy People. They encourage good luck by forcing us to go on these dog walks in Northern Michigan every day. That’s why it’s more than walking and dog walking WELL. Walking is a weapon for playing through the storm and getting out after the storm is alive. We do and we hope that others are struggling to understand it.

Hikes For Dogs

As I live in the desert as I write this, I am amazed at how many hiking trails there are. A friendly dog that appears to be in Northern Michigan!

He walks, eats, kayaks, runs, plays, and most of all he loves to be with us. Pure Michigan baby! Mike Rudd, Jessica Carey Moore, and Tim Allen. LOL.

When you’re ready for a dog walking tour of the US, be sure to put Northern Michigan at the top of your list!

Can I Take My Dog On The Tour Du Mont Blanc? Tour Du Mont Blanc Hike

Nomad, Father Dood, Planet Lover. Hashtag59 & Happy People Climb Lead Intern. He is a freelance writer and content creator. Health and Welfare Officer. The weather is warming up, and you know what that means… road trips! If you’re like us, you want to take the dog for a walk.  Last August, we had one of the most amazing road trips to Utah with our two dogs, Newton + Maya. I thought I would do a small blog post (this is part I of II) on the trip and hopefully give some useful tips if you are traveling with your dog.

Well, there are two important things to consider with Utah: (1) climate + (2) population.  As a major tourist destination, it gets busy during the warmer months, so be aware.  Also, Utah had a HAWT summer.  For you and your dog, this may not be good.  We decided to go in the middle of September, and it was good for us.  The crowds are there, but not as much as they say in June, July and August.  Although it is warm and hot at times, it is not hot in the summer.  Can we do it in October?  Maybe.  But we don’t want to be cold, so we can do this trip at the end of September, the beginning of October is a good thing.

So are you ready to take a road trip with your dog?! Maybe you’ve done this before (KUDOS to you!) But maybe it’s your first time, a new car, a road trip and you’re a little nervous. Here is some information that will help you prepare. First, make a list of what your dog needs each day….

And other things they can use every day OR comfort them from home.

Dog Friendly Vacation Spots To Explore

Then, distribute food and pet the dog every day, double the number of days you will be away and put everything in a box or plastic bag for easy portability. Calculate the number of fruits/supplements required per day and add the number of days and put it in a bag/pack for easy carrying. Then, just pack the water bowl, toys, dog bed or blanket and everything else your dog needs and get in the car!

Now, let’s get to the good stuff… where should you go in Utah?  Well, for us, it is very difficult to choose just one place.  If you’ve ever explored Utah, you know there are parks and recreation areas throughout the state.  You want to see the Arches and Canyonlands in Moab in the east, but you want to do Zion National Park and look at all the amazing slot canyons in the Utah Desert in the southwest / south central.  Utah has a lot to offer, and if you’re traveling from across the state, you’re far away, so you can sit back and take it all in.  [PS: We couldn’t fit in the Epic Monument Valley in Arizona, it’s not too far and we could add a day or two, but that’s fine… next time!]

We decided on a week long trip (five nights and six days to be exact) to see what was possible. Planning for that increase can be difficult
