Cafes have noticed and understand that moms and dads out for a walk need a caffeine boost. Many people set up dog windows where you can order milk and cold beers and sit outside or take out. No need to go inside, just walk your dog to the window.

Visit Inwood Hill Park, the only remaining forest on the island of Manhattan. It has three trails, rock formations and views of the Hudson River and Palisades. New York offers some of the best food from around the world, and you won’t miss out if you visit with your dog. There are many places for dogs where you can eat and/or drink. Our favorites include Pier i Cafe for ice cream and burgers, and D.B.A. for the brewers.

And we can’t forget the Dog Museum! Operated by the American Kennel Club, the Dog Museum exhibits the art of dogs. They have a large permanent collection as well as regular exhibitions and many events related to dogs. They are open to dogs several days a month, including Furry Friday.
Shopping for dogs in NYC is completely possible as many of the larger stores allow dogs. You can visit the historic Macy’s in Herald Square, where the Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place, or the chic Bloomingdale’s in Midtown.
NYC is a pedestrian-friendly city rich in history and culture, so it’s only natural to take a walking tour while you’re here. They are informative, fun, and many are dog friendly. If you’re on a budget, there are plenty of free or paid tours to choose from.
