The 11 Most Dog Friendly Beaches In The U.s

Burlington, Vermont is one of the most dog-friendly places in New England. With great outdoor adventures with canines, downtown Burlington is a playground for canines as much as their companions. You will find many interesting things for your little one to do. Bike the Burlington Greenway along the shores of Lake Champlain, then stop for a sample of local beer at one of the city’s largest dog stalls. Pet-friendly Burlington breweries include Foam Brewers and Zero Gravity Craft Brewery, while places like Switchback Brewing Co allow dogs indoors. Church Street Market, one of New England’s most popular pedestrian (and pup) markets, has plenty of food and friendly shopping. For pet-friendly lodging, Made Inn Vermont, a charming bed and breakfast within walking distance of downtown, offers the perfect home away from home for you and your dog.

During the dog days of summer, there’s no better place to be with your dog than Cape Cod! With miles of pristine beaches, irresistible charm, and tons of outdoor activities, Cape Cod is the perfect summer destination for people and dogs. Especially if you want to visit the Cape Cod National Seashore. These sandy beaches and sun-kissed trails allow dogs on a leash even during high season. Then quench your thirst at Provincetown Brewing Company. Dog friendly (and socially conscious), there is a dog house and a sign that reads “I bite racism” in the beer garden. There are also many pet-friendly places to stay on the Cape. Protect your wallet at the age-old Chatham Bars Inn or try it with your dog at a campsite at Nickerson State Park.

Cape Cod National Seashore is one of the many reasons to visit Cape Cod with your dog.

To travel with your dog, check out Cape Elizabeth, Maine. About five miles south of Portland, it’s a great place to get away from it all without being too far from the road. The south end of Fort Williams Park, home to Portland Head Light, has a large grassy area where dogs can run and play. Of course you can’t visit Maine without trying the local lobster roll, and Bite in Maine has an outdoor food truck located in the park with picnic tables. Higgins Beach is a popular place for children to take turns in the sand and splash in the water. After a long day of fun in the sun, relax at the Inn by the Sea, an elegant beach resort that offers pet care for pets and owners.

Pet Friendly East Coast Vacations Your Dog Will Love

You and your dog will love exploring Nantucket. This small island off the coast of Cape Cod has no traffic lights and lots of New England charm. Right from the boat ride, where you will see many pet customers on the cruise, it is clear that Nantucket is a place that welcomes canine visitors. Choose from tons of dog-friendly things to do, from strolling the Sconset Bluff Walk to exploring historic lighthouses. There are several friendly restaurants in town, including the hot breakfast Black-Eyed Susan’s and the American bistro Queequeg’s. Sit back and relax for a while at the Brass Lantern Inn bed and breakfast, which welcomes four-legged friends in select rooms for a premium rate.

This dog-friendly town in Northeastern Vermont is a must-see. Known as the ski capital of the East, Stowe draws visitors from near and far to the world-class resort every winter. But with plenty of outdoor activities in every season, Stowe is the perfect place to vacation with your dog.

For a great adventure, Smuggler’s Notch State Park offers miles of trails in the lush green mountains. For something more low-key (but just as fun), you and your dog might want to take a walk on the Stowe Recreation Trail. This 11-mile trail has a dog-friendly restaurant along the way. There are also many friendly places to stay in the area for every budget. Resorts like the Trapp Family Lodge, Topnotch Resort, and the Lodge at Spruce Peak offer a sense of nature. But if you’re looking for something more affordable, consider staying with your dog at Field Guide Lodge or The Stowehof.
