Where To Go On A Family Vacation – Family travel is very important to our family. In the midst of raising children, we realized that the years were going by so quickly and that our time as a family of five was limited. So we made a travel list for the whole family and crossed off all the places once our oldest son graduated high school. That was five years ago, and since then we’ve added more places to our family travel list and have had a lot of fun checking new places off the list. I don’t have any regrets about a single trip we took and I wish we traveled more! It can be difficult to make time to travel with teens and young adults. So make the most of the time you have while you’re at it! I think sometimes the hardest thing is deciding where to go next on a family vacation. Here are some things to consider before you start planning.
Every family has a different idea of ββthe perfect family vacation. Some families want to see everything, others want to relax and take things slowly.
Where To Go On A Family Vacation
Sometimes it feels like the travel options are endless. But it can be stressful, so I’m here to give you some tips to help you narrow down your search and plan your next family vacation destination! Don’t miss this post! Here’s how to make family travel fun for teens: Get a passport

Don’t limit your options! Everyone in your family must have a passport. My passport is probably the most precious thing I own, especially since I consider it my gateway to the world! I consider it a gift I can give to my children. Once you have a passport, the possibilities are endless!
Traveling on a budget doesn’t mean you have to limit your options. Family travel can be expensive, especially if you’re traveling with teenagers. Knowing your budget will make it easier for you to decide what type of trip to plan.
Having a list of places your family wants to visit makes it easier for you to search for good travel deals.
When planning a family trip, consider the timing of the trip. For teens, travel is often limited to peak holiday periods such as spring break or summer. Consider things like the weather, people, and attractions you want to see or do that may or may not be open during your visit.

If you only have a long weekend, planning an international trip may not be the best idea! Think about how much time you have and then make a decision based on that.
I don’t mean that you decide the details of the trip, but rather what type of family trip you want. Do you want to relax or explore? Do you want to travel internationally or stay close to home? If your family wants to go on a ski vacation, it will not be well planned in the summer. So figure out what kind of trip your family wants to take and then start planning from there.
This seems obvious, but ask your kids for their input! I find that as your children get older, especially into their teens, family outings become more fun if they have something to add to it.
One of the greatest gifts you can give your family while traveling is to revive their textbooks. There’s nothing like seeing the flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write “The Star-Spangled Banner” hanging in the Smithsonian Museum, or walking the streets of Pompeii. Allowing your children to negotiate in Spanish at the local market or watch a traditional fire dance after dark can really help them realize the importance of the skills they learn in school.

Port Douglas has the largest coral reef system and the oldest rainforest in the world to explore. What more could you ask for? Our girls loved snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, ziplining above the Daintree Rainforest canopy, playing on the stunning beaches, searching for wild crocodiles on the river cruises, and enjoying delicious rainforest ice cream.
Tip: You can also easily visit the Daintree on a day trip from Cairns or Port Douglas. The best selection of organized tours can be found here.
Where else can you watch blue whales from a sailboat, swim in icy cold waters as continents disintegrate around you, and feel the roar of Europe’s largest waterfall β all just a few hours’ drive from each other. If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, Iceland is one of the safest countries in the world. You can even look up the Prime Minister in the phone book.
Icelanders understand the special needs of children and families. It is rare for a restaurant not to have a special place for children to play.

Plus, it’s easy to travel to Iceland on your own. In summer, you can drive the entire ring road or simply focus on the attractions of the south coast β there is plenty to see and do, even with children. If you don’t want to drive around Iceland in winter, you can just stay in Reykjavik and do some day trips.
Our Experience: We have been to Iceland many times in all seasons and it is actually a great place for a more adventurous family trip! In our blog you will find a wide range of travel guides, itineraries and practical tips for Iceland. For a complete overview, see our Iceland travel guide.
Bali has become one of our favorite family travel destinations in recent years. A perfect mix of beaches and culture, there is always something to do, from attending festivals (which seem to happen all the time) to visiting water parks and hiking through rice paddies.
The weather is warm all year round, although the rainy season (November to March) is exactly what it sounds like. The food is excellent and cheap. My favorite restaurant in the world for 10 years is Koka Restaurant near Jimbaran Beach.
Do’s & Don’ts Of Planning A Vacation
Bali’s hotels are great and almost all of them welcome children. We stayed in beachfront hotels, villas with private plunge pools overlooking river valleys, and villas surrounded by rice fields. We always try to offer activities in our hotels, such as fish feeding, anti-gravity yoga, rice planting, pottery making and local walking. We are never ready to check.
Although there are more tourists every year, Bali never feels too touristy. Ubud has maintained a really great artistic atmosphere. There’s also a monkey forest – what kid doesn’t want to be surrounded by monkeys?

The good thing about Costa Rica is that it is a very family-friendly destination. F- If you are from the United States,
