Dog Friendly Holidays Looe Cornwall – Looe is a lively seaside town in south east Cornwall. There is plenty to do and see throughout the year, including an annual canoe race in the summer and festival events in the winter. The city is divided into east and west, between which there is a working port on the river Lu. The main industry in the port is fishing, and an auction of fresh fish is held on the wall every week. The fishing fleet consists of 47 vessels, including trailers and boats. There are many cruise ships, many of which allow dogs.
The city is built in the valley of the river Loo with high hills and narrow streets full of character. There is also a great sense of community here. In 2018, local residents came together to organize Looe Saves the Day, an event to replace the canceled Looe Music Festival. Both towns are easily accessible on foot, but there is also a dog-friendly ferry. It costs just 50p per person and dogs can go free. It takes a few seconds to cross the river and Woody likes to feel the sea air as we go.

We love exploring the cobbled streets every time we visit Loe. There are many dog-friendly pubs, cafes and restaurants such as the Fisherman’s Arms and the Ship Inn. We always take a cake from one of the many local bakeries to eat on the go. However, you must know that Loo pi are very pushy and only like to bite! We’ve heard great things about Café Daisy in East Loo and will definitely be checking in next time!
Holiday Cottages Looe, South Cornwall
A trip to Looe Pet Emporium is a must for Woody. Cool pet store with everything you need. They sell a variety of natural grinders including trachea, chicken feet and drumsticks. All are sold plastic-free, perfect for environmentally conscious pups like Woody. We love browsing the charity shops in East Loo, they are all dog friendly. There is also a selection of local galleries, gift shops and other small businesses. If there is a dog bowl outside, chances are the store is dog friendly and you can get pennies from the store owner if your dog is well behaved!
Loo is good for the south west coast, and good roads to Polperro and Seaton. There are many hiking spots and beaches nearby where you can walk your dogs. Our favorite has to be Hannafore. It’s dog friendly all year round, with free parking and lots of amenities nearby. During the summer, local vendors offer a variety of hot drinks and snacks to beachgoers. Woody even managed to convince another man to share strawberry ice cream when we arrived!
Walking in Golita waterfall is interesting. We even saw a deer drinking from the river during our visit. It is about a 30 minute drive from Loo and many amenities and facilities in the area. Another incredible place is Cardinham Woods, again about half an hour’s drive from Lowe. There are four hiking trails to choose from, all dog-friendly. Stonerush Lakes is a luxury holiday park located just seven miles from Polperro and Fowey in South East Cornwall. Clean farmland provides a stunning lake in the center of the park. It is home to Cornwall’s much-loved wildlife, including deer, geese and freshwater fish.
The 28 acre site has a number of one, two and three bedroom detached holiday homes, many of which are dog friendly. Stonerush Lakes can accommodate up to two dogs, perfect for multi-dog families. The accommodation is quiet and peaceful, decorated to a high standard inside and out. Whether you choose a lakeside cabin or decide to stay in the heart of the valley, the views will always be amazing!

My dog and I stayed at 3 Valley View, a modern family home at the back of the estate. Laminate floors (except in carpeted rooms) were easy to clean after walking in mud. I really liked how easy it was to close off parts of the house, like the bedrooms, when the dogs got wet. The open plan living room has plenty of room to dry off after our tour.
Golita Falls is one of our favorite places to walk in South East Cornwall. It would be rude not to make the 20 minute drive while staying at Stonerush Lakes. His sister, Southern Halt, is also on the way – another great dog for a country escape. We also visited Lantic Bay for the first time during our stay there. It was a bit of a walk to the beach, but the clean beach was worth it!
Stonerush Lakes cottages are equipped with all modern kitchen facilities. There is also a dishwasher and cookware, which makes cooking a breeze. In addition, the hotel has a restaurant and bar that offers delicious food all year round, as well as take-out service.
The master bedroom was airy and spacious, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the private deck. There was enough room to fit Woody’s crate – something we always take with us as he likes to jump out of bed in the middle of the night otherwise!

The outside area was not completely secure because there was no gate. However, Woody and Hyun still remain in my field of vision. We enjoyed the view together every morning while drinking Cornish tea. There was also a hot tub sunken on the deck which proved to be the perfect place to relax after a hard day with the dogs!
