Best Dog Friendly Getaways – There’s something about January that makes me want to sit down with a calendar and plan an entire trip for the next year. It’s so cold and dark outside, curling up with the laptop and planning some adventures is satisfying.
Although we’ve put a stop to our big international travels during the pandemic, we’re loving getting back to the Seattle area and all of its great (and dog-friendly!) getaways. After a decade spent in New York and Chicago, it’s fun to relive past vacations and see all the new glam spots, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs that have arrived. And best of all, I love to stay, some accept a dog friendly option for your stay.

Bring your best friend for some wine country magic at one of our favorite spots in the area We’ve been spending weekends at Sagecliffe since 2015 and it really doesn’t disappoint. Columbia River cruises, wine tasting, and scenic views make this a dream vacation.
Captain Whidbey is at the top of my vacation 2022 “bucket list.” Having recently been featured in publications such as Vogue, this beautifully renovated historic hotel has popped up on my Instagram feed and I can’t wait to visit. . Walla Walla is the top wine region in the country with over 120 wineries, so I really can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve been bookmarking this modern hotel in the city center for a while because it looks like a perfect base camp for a ski holiday or wine weekend. Or both! Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with that waterfront fire pit. Although this Oregon Coast lodge is a short drive from Seattle, its beauty, modern interior and views of the Pacific Ocean make it worth it. Dogs under 25 years of age are welcome in selected rooms – more details here
My New Year’s resolution is to make a reservation at my dream hotel in St. Edward as soon as possible, which will be easy since it is half an hour away from the city. This historic seminary has been restored and transformed into a beautiful retreat on 326 acres of land on Lake Washington. Plus, relax after a day of exploring with a trip to Pacific Northwest cuisine or dining at Cedar + Elm. Dog details here
We had a full week at the Lodges in Vashan in January 2020 and wrote about it here – and the memories took me back to the first month of closure. These modern 570-square-foot units offer amenities like private patios, fireplaces, and soaking tubs. We had a lovely Easter holiday in Seminyak in 2019 and I was looking forward to the opportunity to return to its beautiful scenery and remote beaches that Lizzie loved to explore. Steps from the Canadian border, this classic resort is the perfect base for hiking in Northern Washington and stunning coastal views. They are very dog friendly, and dogs are welcome with their own bowls, beds and (at least during our visit) a few souvenirs. Dog details here
Take a trip back in time with this vintage trailer stay in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? Located in the Willamette Wine Country the Trailers are equipped with plenty of coffee, luxury linens and beautiful bathrobes. Dogs are allowed in Shasta trailers and explained more here
One of my favorite trips from downtown Anacortes Drive an hour and a half north of Seattle to reach this quintessential beach town, complete with charming shops, delicious cafes, and views. the water. I love a one-of-a-kind vacation and Rolling Hut in Winthrop certainly delivers. These tiny houses were designed by Olson Kundig Architects in Seattle to be a modern alternative to camping. Go for a long hike or just relax and soak up the beautiful view of the mountains.They have a pet policy listed in the “Rates and Policies” section of the Hotels.com listing.

Okay, so technically it’s not available yet, but we’ve signed up for alerts to get reservations for two of these beautiful campsites in Olympic National Park. They offer comfort beyond camping standards, but provide a hidden and sustainable way to get into nature. Two Washington locations are slated to open soon, and we’re crossing our fingers that we can get reservations this summer. Their pet policy is in the FAQ section here
We’re obsessed with the new Water’s Edge Suite at this historic Orcas Island property, which offers private balconies overlooking the bay. I can see myself curled up there with a book I think the only thing that would attract me is the amazing menu at Leaf Cafe Well behaved dogs are welcome in some rooms, suites and studios

If you haven’t heard of Tentr yet, you’re missing out. Basically, they set up luxury safari tents on special pieces of land, like this beautiful vegetable garden near Meade, Washington. Sure, Idaho is a short drive from Seattle, but we can drive any distance to get a look at the atmosphere. Plus the little details like the sauna on site and the antique grinder melt my heart. Pets are allowed, although judging by the entrance steps, you may find out whether this will be a fun vacation for you or not.
