The Best Beaches In Cornwall For Dogs To Go Wild In Winter

This secluded harbor is just 7 minutes away and is located between Looe and Polperro. Located in the middle of the historic beach, Talland Bay is less formal and dog friendly all year round. The area has two pebble beaches with coarse sand, both protected by cliffs with small grass and rocks. Downstairs there is plenty of sand to play on and a large launch pad, as well as swimming pools to watch and explore. Short, elevated paths allow easy access to both beaches. There is a paid parking lot on the beach next to the cafe. There is also a small, unused parking lot on the east coast that can be used free of charge.

On the edge of Looe is a quiet, south-east facing Hannafore Beach. Compared to the main beaches at Looe, popular with dog walkers, they are accessible and quiet. Most of the beach is rocky and rocky. Low tide has many rock pools to wade in and great views of St. George’s Island, a zoo that you can visit by boat. The main car park is in Looe, from where you can take a pleasant walk to the beach. There is also street parking on the beach, where you can easily access the sandy beach.

Lantivet Bay itself is a small cove only accessible at low tide, making it a beautiful hidden gem for walking and meditation. The Lantivet Bay Circular Walk also offers a spectacular 3 mile walk guaranteed to bring back many unforgettable memories.

Top 10 Dog Friendly Beaches In Cornwall

If you head along the north coast of Cornwall you will come across the sandy beaches of Watergate Bay. Protected by tall green cliffs along the coast, the bay has two kilometers of white, golden sand. There are two serviced car parks and places to enjoy a hot drink before your dog goes for a walk. If you want a longer walk, you can enjoy walking south along the coastal path, which takes about 45 minutes to Newquay. This hiking tour will get you racing, taking in the hills and valleys while enjoying the beauty of the northern cliffs and views of the Atlantic.

Between Treyarnon Point to the south and Trethias Island to the north are the clean, sandy beaches of Treyarnon Bay. This area is not affected by commerce and is dog-friendly all year round. Sand dunes and low cliffs form the back of the bay. Low tide, rock pools and natural swimming pools provide plenty of water play opportunities for pets and children. It is also one of the best family beaches in Padstow and there is a lifeguard on duty from May to September. The area around the bay and the sand itself offers many ways to walk and walk along the beach from the parking lot.

Fistral Beach is about an hour’s drive from Newquay. The west facing coast with its amazing foamy surf is one of the best surfing spots in the country. The beach itself is long and sandy, protected by tall cliffs and grassy dunes – a wonderful playground for the whole family. There are many cafes and views and one of Rick Stein’s restaurants. This beach is just beautiful and a great place to spend the day together.

A unique beach with a name reminiscent of Arthurian legend – Guinevere. The coast is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes from Looe, towards Penzance and the far west coast of Cornwall. The area is full of natural beauty and is surrounded by grassy cliffs offering stunning views of the Isles of Scilly. The descent from the car park is steep, making it a quiet place to enjoy a run with your pup on the 150m of white sand. At low tide it also connects to Sennen Beach to the south. The strong swell of the Atlantic Ocean flowing into the bay offers experienced surfers great surfing opportunities. Dogs are welcome all year round. The guard is on duty from May to September.

The harbor was built in the 1890s to protect ships from the Atlantic war, making it an attractive, historic place to play and have fun together, either on the beach, on the cliffs or in the harbor itself.

Please note: Looe and the rest of Cornwall is subject to strong tides, so some of these beaches are inaccessible at high tide. Make sure you check the tide times before you go as the tide comes in quickly.

This beach is often called Second Beach. If you are facing East Looe beach from the promenade, go left towards the end and you will see some steps. Walk up the steps and you will see Second Beach.

At high levels there is very little space (at high water the steps sink). At low tide the beach is long and full of sandy areas, rocks and rocky pools. The whole family can enjoy this beach resort as there is something for everyone.

At low tide it is possible to go to Plaidy, although there are kilometers long steps you can take to the beach path if you don’t want to walk all the way.

Make sure you know the tide times as it is possible to get caught in high tide in different areas.

This area is often overlooked, but if you are looking for a small area where you can quickly release your dog to run, then the area near Banjo Pier is a great place in deep water.
