20 stylish rooms come in three different categories, Indulgence, Comfy and Cosy. We stayed in Griffin’s room or room 9 – which was behind Fullon’s London pub. The hotel room was very heavy. The room is not only big but also has one of the biggest windows I’ve ever seen, looking out over the garden and surrounding trees.
We can enjoy the view from the luxurious 6ft bed while Ernie enjoys the lounge chair, which takes him five minutes to do the whole thing. The room also has a telephone back and wallpaper with simple horse writing that gives a happy feeling. The complimentary wine and beer was also a nice touch and the homemade food (in a complimentary gift box) went down a treat.
The stylish bathroom is also a pleasure to spend time in, with back lighting, tiles and wooden doors. The roll in shower was beautiful and the rainforest shower was just what we needed to wake us up in the morning. I love homewares from Cole & Lewis and it also helps to have good clothes and shoes.
Very tasty We visited in January when the restaurant was testing vegan dishes for Veganuary, but there were still many dishes on the menu. Overall, I’d say the food is a classic fodder that’s the place to be anywhere. Think liver and bacon and the size of the sun.

In winter there is nothing going on in Burley (20 minutes walk from The White Bucks Theatre). But in summer you can follow the Burley Food Trail. You can sample New Forest cider, hand brewed and traditional sweets at 5.5 miles and 5 miles. You can also learn about the old town – we consider our shops to be magical.
