The 10 Best Pet Friendly Hotels In The United Kingdom

Not only do all of the following hotels get great reviews (five stars and above), they also have dogs. There are country lodges, such as Another Place in the Lake District, which encourage dog walking from the doorstep, but we also have city lodges, including a rare pet-friendly hotel in the heart of London.

We have lived in hotels for the last two years. Prices shown are for Saturday evening (highest price) and are current at time of publication. All points are five.

A few weeks before visiting Imwe Mwego, they asked us to have breakfast and download an app so we could plan our trip. The long list on the lobby page of the bright and stylish Georgian house reinforces the feeling that this hotel is designed for buyers who want to make the most of their time in this most beautiful part of the world. There are hiking, kayaking, stargazing and other ways to enjoy the glorious Allswater. But even if you’re not one to predict when you’ll need bacon and eggs before the moon rises, you’ll have a good time here.

We loved the Living Space living and dining room with its sleek modern pine flooring and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake area. Even better is the pool, where you can swim for a long time while looking at the hills on the other side of the lake. Another temptation to sit instead of leading a healthy lifestyle is a library with light pouring in through French doors. The friendly and relaxed service contrasts with all the pre-visit preparations. We never looked at the schedule and no one thought we didn’t have breakfast on time.

Rooms: Our recommendation? “Standard Rooms” are small and affordable. Spend an extra £20 for a large upgrade room, which has a comfortable bathroom and a comfortable bed with bay windows or French doors to the garden. There are dog friendly rooms and you can also take your dog into most but not all public areas.

Food and Drink: We chose to eat in the accommodation rather than the Rampsback – the official restaurant. There are plenty of vegetarian dishes to try even if you’re not a vegetarian, especially the vegetarian dumplings in a vibrant teriyaki sauce.

Our verdict: We’ll be glad we never left – perfect given the hotel’s superb location on our doorstep.

Langham Village is a mile from the Moorestown Pier with cruises, salt flats and big skies. It has a church, a village school and, as of 2021, a luxury hotel. Not that The Harper would feel out of place with its friendly and relaxed service. This former glass-blowing factory has been transformed into a low-slung sunny courtyard with olive trees, rusted chimneys and wooden lighting. The courtyard has an indoor pool and hot tub, a charming bar and several comfortable seating areas with a small selection from the wine vending machine.

Rooms: Even the smallest of the hotel’s 32 rooms, at 280 square feet, is classified as “large” (some are “large” and “large”). All four-poster beds have modern bathrooms with rain showers and a complimentary Negroni in the minibar. £25 per dog with bed and towels.

Food and Drink: Delicious local produce everywhere. There’s fresh-caught North Sea prawns simmered on charcoal in the courtyard, Norfolk mac and cheese pancetta from the bar and tandoori monkfish at The Stanley. Even better, you can eat wherever you want, whenever you want. Just make sure you don’t miss out on the free freshly baked dumplings with chutney at 6pm when you visit us.

Our verdict: spacious yet intimate, delicious yet not overdone, relaxed yet still special. Consider: Harper’s has its own recipe.

This Dartmoor hotel was once the residence of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford, who in 1814 enlisted the help of local architect Humphrey Repton to transform their grounds. Now part of the Police estate, the entire house is Grade I listed and the surrounding gardens are brilliant. Grab a map and explore the 108 acres – you’ll see deserts, grottoes, waterfalls and an arboretum, as well as a new archway and rose-scented walk overlooking the River Tamar.

Rooms: All 19 rooms are beautifully decorated by Olga Politsa, and many are time-saving – we love the fire buckets and hose reels upstairs. Our classic double room (number 16) with botanical painting and roll top bath (not all rooms have separate showers) overlooks the stalls and clock tower. For the best garden view, choose one of the Repton rooms. The original hand-painted wallpaper is still on display in the Bedford Rooms. Two nights are usually required. There is a £20 charge for dogs and there are restrictions on where they can enter public areas. However, they recommend taking the dog for a walk during meals.

Food and drink: Venison, duck breast and scallops with berre blanc seaweed were among the main courses at our three-course dinner (£67.50), although many simply enjoyed a stroll around the garden followed by a cream tea with noon (£35). .

Just off Loch Fyne, the inn has been in the Clarke family since 1860, and during our visit Chris, who now runs it, chatted with locals, overnighters and four Austrians who had traveled to Inverray to see the neo-Gothic. George’s Castle Dining Area Formerly the Master’s Inn is the main dining room – it still retains the original 18th century stone walls and stone floor, as well as built-in benches and a roaring fire. The dishes are also served in a modern bright environment.

Rooms: Entering the main building’s 18 bedrooms, there are winding staircases, tartan carpets and eerie corridors filled with antiques and paintings. Our standard room had a large bathroom with a shower and two double chairs in a ‘chat corner’. Reserve the Merchant Suite for an elevated spa tub, double rain shower, and wood-burning stove. Dogs are free of charge and are allowed in the restaurant and bar.

Food and drink: Food is served from the south and includes dishes such as haggis, bites and tatties (£12), a selection of seafood with Loch Fyne salmon (£16) and pan-seared scallops (£18). Enjoy a nightcap – if you’re not sure which whiskey to order (there are 400 to choose from), the experienced bar staff will be happy to help you find your favourite.

Shoreditch is the epitome of hipster stereotypes, and you’ll find them all at OneHundred. There’s a co-working space upstairs, a Peloton studio downstairs, and a lounge in the basement where your denim is mixed with dandelion leaves. But backstage, just a 15-minute walk from town, there are 258 rooms with comfortable beds.

Rooms: In London, where hoteliers are happy to charge £200 for a sweatshop with no windows, studio rooms (the smallest) are a bargain. Neutral colors, cream wool rugs and lack of clutter contribute to this effect. And with plenty of daylight and the curtains drawn, a comfy bed is where you want to be. You must book rooms that accommodate a dog, even though they are in different room types and allow dogs. This is allowed in most but not all public places.

Food and drink: Something wonderful is happening in the restaurant on the first floor: a charming deli with deep wood, copper railings and leather chairs, where mains (such as Cornish fish stew and garlic and spelled risotto) are under £20. For Shoreditch it’s amazing. Unfortunately the breakfast wasn’t good – full English and healthy options were available, but everything filled up late. Plus, it’s inexpensive to provide hotel guests with hot filter coffee while baristas whip up frothy egg whites for a stroll down the street.
