Family Friendly Places To Visit In California

Family Friendly Places To Visit In California – I was born in California, and although I love to travel around the country, California is my favorite state to explore. From beautiful ocean views to beautiful mountain views to deserts and valleys, California has a little bit of everything! Our family started traveling again when California opened up. We have been able to take at least one trip per month for the past 5 months and have several family trips planned for the rest of the year, all to California. For the moment!

Many people ask me what is my favorite place to go with my children. Of course, this is very difficult to answer. My children fly with us. I remember our son learning to hike in South Lake Tahoe. We joke that they have become better travelers than us now that they can bag more than any trip!

Yosemite National Park is my favorite place in all of California. No matter how many times we visit, I am always in awe of the beautiful landscapes, beautiful waterfalls and hidden gems. Best of all, visiting Yosemite National Park is inexpensive compared to other places in California and it’s kid-friendly! Although you have to pay an entrance fee, you can bring food and snacks to save money on food and walk around without paying extra fees. If you are planning to visit this summer, they must be booked in advance, so plan accordingly.

We recently visited San Francisco for the first time since 2016. I did a lot of research beforehand and decided to do most of the outdoor activities to avoid mask adjustments and medicine at that time. A family trip to San Francisco can be a little pricey, but definitely worth it! My kids loved walking the Golden Gate Bridge, exploring the Palace of Fine Arts, visiting the pier, entering Golden Gate Park, and playing on the beach. I recommend visiting the ZOO and Exploratorium if you have small children!

Pismo Beach is one of my favorite beach towns in California. The Pismo Beach Pier is fun and kid-friendly with a fun bar and great restaurants. Oceana Dunes is a huge hit with our kids! You can explore the nearby beaches of SLO, Avila Beach, and Morro Bay.

Oakhurst is a hidden gem of a town just south of Yosemite National Park. We spent the weekend enjoying Bass Lake, eating delicious food at one of the coolest spots in Oakhurst, and enjoying the quiet of the hills with the kids. Just north of Oakhurst, you can take a scenic train ride through the Sierra Nevada. Oakhurst offers recreational activities such as ax throwing and off-road adventures. You can find great deals on low season breaks.

Monterey, one of our favorite beach towns, offers a variety of family-friendly attractions and activities. Whether you want to relax on the beach’s sand, visit Cannery Row, explore the Monterey Bay Aquarium, or enjoy fresh seafood, Monterey is the perfect place for your family beach trip!

I may be biased because we’re only a short drive away, but if you’re looking for a beautiful lakeside setting in the mountains for your next family vacation, then Pinecrest is your answer! Pinecrest offers camping, lodging, boat rentals, outdoor theater, fishing, winter sports, swimming and hiking. We go to Pinecrest often in the summer and my kids always enjoy it!
