Burlington, Vermont is one of the most dog-friendly places in New England. Boasting incredible outdoor adventures and a hip, laid-back downtown, Burlington is a playground for dogs and their companions. You can find many interesting activities with your puppy. Cruise along the Burlington Greenway along the shores of Lake Champlain, then stop to sample local beers at one of the city’s many dog-friendly breweries. Burlington beer bars that allow pups on their patios include Foam Brewers and Zero Gravity Craft Brewery, while places like Switchback Brewing Co. are also dog-friendly. Church Street Market, one of New England’s most famous pedestrian (and dog-friendly) malls, offers a variety of dog-friendly restaurants and shops. Pet-friendly Made in Vermont, a quaint bed and breakfast just steps from downtown, offers you and your dog a comfortable home away from home.
When the dog days of summer arrive, there’s no better place to be with your pup than Cape Cod! With miles of pristine coastline, irresistibly laid-back charm and countless outdoor activities, Cape Cod is a summer destination for people and dogs alike. You will especially enjoy visiting the Cape Cod National Seashore. This sunny stretch of sandy beaches and trails allows dogs to be kept off leash even in peak season. Then quench your thirst at Provincetown Brewing Company. They’re so dog-friendly (and socially conscious) that the beer garden has a doghouse with an “I Bite Racists” sign. Cape Town has a number of pet-friendly accommodation options. Pamper your pup at the upscale Chatham Bar’s Inn or go “dog style” with your pup at Nickerson State Park Campground.

For a grand adventure, Smuggler’s Notch State Park offers miles of trails through a beautiful expanse of green mountains. For something more low-key (but more fun), you and your dog will enjoy a walk along the Stowe Recreation Trail. This 18-kilometer paved path is lined with dog-friendly restaurants and breweries. The area has several dog-friendly options to suit all budgets. Luxury resorts such as Trapp Family Lodge, Topnotch Resort and The Lodge at Spruce Peak offer comfort. But if you’re looking for something more affordable, consider staying with your dog at a field guide lodge or stovehof.

Their pet policy allows for well-behaved dogs of any size at the cottage for a daily fee of $20 per pet. To book online, you can select one of the cottages and add the pet fee at checkout.
This resort has everything you need for a perfect vacation without leaving its 700 acres. Choose from a wide range of activities for the whole family, from land to lake. The pool and beach are pet-free areas, but dogs have their own special swimming area, Fanny Beach. We were even able to rent a sailboat to go out on the lake with Roscoe! Additionally, you can dine at one of the resort’s five restaurants. Dogs are not allowed in the dining rooms, but we can dine with you in Red Mill’s common outdoor seating area. Dog walking and dog sitting services are also available if you want to have some fun without Fido.

The Field Guide Lodge in Stowe is an elegant boutique hotel managed by Lark Hotels. Like many of their properties, their pet policy allows dogs under 70 pounds for an additional fee of $50 per dog per day. We stayed in one of their three cottage suites, which have plenty of space and a separate outside entrance. You can book these suites online, just remember to include your dog’s number, size and name at checkout. Dogs are not allowed alone in the room. Out of respect for other guests, dogs are only allowed at hotel entrances and outdoor common areas.
