Best Dog Friendly Hotels In Cornwall 2023

Dogs are allowed on many attractions in Newquay’s Lappa Valley, including the railway for a small fee. Near Newquay, your pup (on a lead) can join you at Healy Cider Farm. Dogs are not allowed in the production area, but are allowed in many other parts of the facility, including the hotel.

We’ve all seen a cruise before and salty dogs can board the Jubilee Queen sailing from Padstow. The fresh smell of the sea, a glass of wine, your friend at your feet… Perfect.

Back on land, your wallet can join you at the beautiful Pendennis Castle in Falmouth. They can get into many spaces: make sure they are spaced out.

Unusually for wildlife lovers, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gwick allows dogs to be kept on a leash.

Luxury Pet & Dog Friendly Holidays In Cornwall

Which beaches in Cornwall are friendly? Many municipal beaches allow dogs at certain times of the day and have a yearly “schedule” that can be confusing. If you’re not sure, check out Cornwall Council’s guide to keeping dogs on the beach.

In St Ives, the lovely Bamaluz is a popular spot and you’ll always find friendly pet parents to chat with. Lambeth Walk (behind the boathouse) is another friendly beach in St Ives and at low tide you can enjoy the breakwater.

Head east along Carbis Bay Road and you’ll reach beautiful Lelanto. A park where you can see the path that passes by the church in the city. This leads to Portkidney which is without a doubt the best place for sand. Just watch the waves and remember this is not a swimming beach.

On the other side of the peninsula from Penzance, visit Long Rock, a popular beach with locals. This huge stretch of sand lies between Marazion and Penzance, so you can imagine the sea past the impressive Mount St. Michael. There is a small parking lot on the beach.

Cornwall has more than its share of beautiful gardens, but which ones are dog-friendly? Trebach Park on the outskirts of Falmouth has a reputation for being very friendly. These subtropical gardens offer plenty of ways to explore that you’ll love. Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens near Penzance is another popular spot for dog walking, and as a bonus, there’s a great dog cafe outside.

The Eden Project allows dogs to be outside, but not in biomes (which humans may take for granted). However, Eden’s outdoor space is vast and your dog will love exploring its many trails. There are also many outdoor dining areas.

Eden’s sister attraction, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, is one of the best dog-walking spots in the area. Please keep your pets away as Heligan is home to wildlife, farm animals and poultry.

If you and your dog enjoy long walks together, choose part of the beautiful South West Coast Path. They have a helpful dog walking page on their website. Godolphin Hill (near Helston), run by the National Trust, is another popular spot for good skiing (Cornish for ‘quick walk’). Please watch out for the cows and keep the nuts.

How about a little jungle shower?  Cardinham Woods near Bodmin is so friendly they even have a self-service dog wash. There is also only Bodmin Moor, but read the restrictions on grazing animals on the moor.

If you want to combine a good trip with local history, visit the Chinese Ceramics Museum near St Austell. Wheal Martyn has a network of trails and a friendly cafe.
