We’ve teamed up with the National Trust on the Dogs Welcome project, an initiative which aims to improve access for our four-legged friends to the wonderful places the Trust cares for. From the introduction of more dog-friendly runs, dog bins, wash bays and water stations. The National Trust takes several precautions to ensure that owners and their dogs feel welcome.

We’re delighted to partner with TV presenter and explorer Simon Reeve as a project ambassador to help us share all the exciting news about the Dogs Welcome project. A keen dog owner, Simon and his faithful dog Obi visited the National Trust’s Arlington Court in Devon to see for themselves many of the changes taking place.
Over the last three years we have worked with the National Trust to improve access for dogs and their owners to the places the Trust looks after. Learn more about the success of the Dogs Welcome project so far.
All National Trust sites have been rated for their dog friendliness and awarded a Special Pawprint Rating. This is stated in the National Trust Members’ Handbook and on the Trust website. 3 paw prints (best), 2 paw prints (good), and 1 paw print (standard) help visitors plan great adventures with their canine companions.
As part of our partnership with the National Trust, a minimum of £80,000 from sales of our co-branded gourmet meals and treats will be donated to support the Trust’s conservation work.

We want you and your dog to have a fun, stress-free day. We also want to protect livestock and valuable natural habitats, as well as ensure that everyone can enjoy nature, whether they have a dog or not. That’s why we’ve teamed up with natural pet food manufacturer Forthglade to develop Canine Code.
Using a short leash helps prevent your dog from disturbing ground-nesting birds and livestock. It is important to use a short leash around sheep. However, if livestock approaches you, it is best to leash your dog and recall when it is safe to do so.
Always clean up after your dog. If you can’t find a trash can nearby, bring poop bags with you.
Pay attention to local signs and warnings wherever you go. They tell you if a beach, e.g. is prohibited for dogs, or if a path has been diverted, or if you are in an area where dogs can run on a leash.

The 10 Best National Trust Places In The Uk
Three prints show the best places to visit for a day with your dog. You will be able to take your dog to most places, including indoors, for a cup of tea and a treat. There will be clearly demarcated dog areas and dog-friendly experiences.
These sites are equipped with water bowls, dog beds and dog walks. You will be able to bring your dog in some areas, but not everywhere. If there is a food and drink outlet, you can have a cup of tea with them, probably outside.
Dogs are welcome here, but facilities are limited. They will be able to stretch their legs and stroll in nearby open spaces, depending on the season.
