There’s a cafe and shop on site so adults and children are well catered for, while there’s butterfly surfing for those looking for more adrenaline.

Holkham Beach is a great place for your dog to stretch its legs all year round, but there are a few caveats to note. The beach acts as a nature reserve and at certain times of the year wildlife thrives in its natural habitat.

Running dogs would be a nuisance and the Holkham team work to ensure wildlife is not harmed and dogs are always welcome. Therefore, from the beginning of April to the end of August, dogs are only allowed on a leash in certain areas of the beach. The remaining 70% of the beach is open for casual walks as long as the dog is closely supervised. The areas are clearly marked, so you don’t have to stick to the designated areas at certain times of the year.

With miles of beautiful sandy beach, you can get lost while taking your dog for a walk on Brancaster Beach on holiday in North Norfolk.

Brancaster is perfect for families and those looking for beach fun. There is also a bit of a hike for history buffs as the wreck of the SS Win is visible at high tide. It was used by the RAF for target practice during WW2 but got stuck in a sandbar and has been there ever since! We should add that you should never try to get close. This is extremely dangerous.

Dogs are welcome all year round, but in the summer there are restrictions on parts of the beach. Take advantage of the cafe and buy some food and treats, then let your dog dig as he enjoys the sand and views as much as you do!
