Dog Friendly Holidays In The Forest Of Dean And Wye Valley
In November 2019, we took our 2-year-old chocolate labrador, Vinny, on his first holiday. We chose Forest Holidays as we had already been to Sherwood Pines and knew they were dog friendly, but as this was Winnie’s first time in an unfamiliar environment we chose somewhere a little closer to home: Forest Dean .
A little easy research and we found a couple of forest walks about 15 minutes from the site (but you leave the cabin and are in the forest, so you can take any path here!)
Our previous forest vacation was for our honeymoon, so we chose the ultimate Golden Oak cabin, but this time we wanted a comfortable place, but didn’t need a high-end cabin, so we chose Silver Birch. This cabin still has a hot tub but no wood stove to use the hot tub and no extra towels – however this cabin sleeps 4 so we used the spare towels in the bedroom.
We were able to book the holiday when there was a discount code in the January sale so Vinny didn’t pay anything extra (dogs are normally £15 per dog per night). When searching for cabins on the website, make sure they are labeled “pet friendly” as the results will show cabins that are not pet friendly. We choose to rest on weekdays (Monday-Friday).

We arrived at our warm and cozy log cabin for check-in at 4pm (they offer early check-in for an extra fee, but
