The coastal areas around Kiama and Gerringong are perfect for a quick escape from Sydney with your dog. With its beautiful beaches, rolling green countryside and natural beauty, this place has a lot to offer, including a variety of dog-friendly tours.
Outstanding Dog Friendly Walks In The Blue Mountains — Walk My World
One of my top recommendations is the Kiama Coastal Walk between Minnamurra and Gerringong. Other attractions include visiting the famous Kiama Blow Hole, photographing Temple Rocks, and exploring the off-leash dog beach.
As well as Kiama and Gerringong, there are also the villages of Berry and Kangaroo Valley. While the former is associated with coastal delights, Bury and Kangaroo Valley are historic inland towns surrounded by farmland and woodland valleys.
Walk your dog in Barry’s beautiful shopping district, enjoy a glass of wine at a local winery, take in the views from the top of Mount Cambewarra or stay at the Friendly Inn in Kangaroo Valley. There are lots of options, including lovely dog-friendly cottages that are perfect for your holiday.
Located in central Huskisson, the Jervis Bay area is close to Sydney for a weekend getaway, but close enough to avoid Sydney’s strict beach regulations. The area is known for its beautiful white sand beaches, many of which are dog-friendly and have plenty of off-leash and off-leash options.

Port Stephens is a wonderful seaside resort, especially during the warmer months. The area around Nelson Bay, north of Newcastle, is ideal for a short weekend break or a longer holiday.
There are a variety of dog-friendly accommodation options in Port Stephens. Not to mention the dog-friendly beaches where you can take a yacht cruise on calm waters or take a ferry to the Tea Gardens.
A little further away from Sydney, the twin towns of Forster-Tuncurry on the north coast are worth staying a little longer, or at least taking a long weekend or week off.
