Among the best are Stardust Video and Coffee in Audubon Park, where hipsters hang out, and Barney’s Coffee Kitchen on Tony Park Avenue in Winter Park. Down the street is Palmano, which not only has great espresso and Italian food, but also has a large yard for dogs that don’t get on the sidewalks. In the Mills 50 neighborhood, the Dandelion Community Cafe welcomes dogs on the front lawn, but unless you’re raising a vegetarian weasel, you’ll have to prepare your own food.

Burton Bar in Thornton Park, the king of pet friendly pubs. Where happy hour often serves dogs as much as people, and bartenders know the local dogs by name. A few blocks west, the trail around Lake Eola (full of hikers and bikers, so stick to it) is Orlando’s best relaxing lakeside escape. The place is full of weeds and there is no pasture for them to feed and eat. (Yes, none for shelled shrimp, but the beer is cool.)

To the north and another popular lake practice route is the village of Hammered Lamb in Ivanhoe. Lamb allows the dogs in the “yard,” a completely enclosed airway that makes up half the lane. Being the friendly staff that they are, they threw a puppy bowl party to celebrate the dogs of the Florida Small Dog Rescue Team playing in the big game. Nearby, the Thirsty Topher beer and wine bar offers great beers on tap and fine wines by the glass, while the front wall moves forward to create a more porous boundary between inside and outside.
